Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 159 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested and six were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24011172
At 10:46 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on man reported to be slumped over in a chair outside a multi-unit building on Michener Road in Chatham.
Officers arrived and located the man sleeping. Further investigation revealed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant as a result from a November 2023 bail violation investigation. Upon a search incident to arrest the man was found in possession of suspected fentanyl.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man has been charged with failing to comply with a release order and possession of a controlled substance.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24011250
At 6:29 p.m., police located the man on Warwick Drive in Chatham. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to January 2024 theft investigation.
The 49-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and released with a new court date of April 8, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.
Two Men Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK24011269 / CK24011270
At 8:33 p.m., police responded to an alarm at a Park Avenue East business in Chatham. Upon a search of the area officers located two men on Payne Street and confirmed they both were wanted on outstanding warrants.
Officers learned the 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man had been released by the court on February 3, 2024, with a court date of February 20, 2024. When the man failed to make an appearance on that date a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. The man is currently facing the following charges: obstruct a peace officer, break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of failing to attend court, and four counts of failing to attend court after having appeared. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters, and held pending a bail hearing.
The 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a summons, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, two counts of failing to attend court, eight counts of possession of stolen property, and eight counts of theft. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters, and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK24011281
On March 8, 2024, police responded to Willis Street in Wallaceburg for a mischief investigation.
Through investigation, officers formed ground to charge the man for damaging a cell phone. Officers also discovered the courts had released the man on February 12, 2024, with conditions to reside at the Willis Street address and notify the police of any address change in writing 24 hours prior to moving. When the man could not be located a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On March 12, 2024, at 10:01 p.m., police observed the man at a convenience store on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers recognized the man from previous encounters and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with mischief and failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24011284
At 10:05 p.m., police responded to Fifth Street for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival officer learned one man assaulted another resulting in minor facial injuries.
The 52-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of April 15, 2024.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24011297
On August 4, 2023, the court released the man with conditions to reside at a specific Thamesville address and to remain inside that residence between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
On February 6, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. when the man was not home a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On March 12, 2024, at 11:26 p.m., officer located the 33-year-old Thamesville man on Sherman Street in Thamesville. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man was charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24011295
On February 27, 2024, the court released the man with a GPS ankle monitor and conditions prohibiting him from being outside his residence from 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
On March 12, 2024, at 11: 22 p.m., police received information from the monitoring company the man was tracked outside of his residence past his curfew. Officers attend the Wallaceburg location provided and located the man.
The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm CK24011310
On March 13, 2024, at 1:15 a.m., police responded to an unrelated matter on Grand Avenue East in Chatham when they located the man. The man was known to the officers from previous encounters and was wanted for a March 3, 2024, assault investigation and a February 23, theft investigation.
The 18-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: assault, assaulting causing bodily harm two counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of theft.
