The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 206 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23031222
At 6:47 a.m., an officer observed the man walking on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg while on general patrol. The officer recognized the man from previous encounters.
When officers attempted to stop the man, the man fled. After a short foot pursuit, officers stopped the man and took him into custody.
The 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and transported to police headquarters. The man was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK23031223
At 7:07 a.m., police responded to St. Andrew’s Church, on William Street, for an activated alarm.
Upon arrival, police confirmed a break-and-enter had occurred, and K9 Helix was utilized to clear the building. Through surveillance footage, police were able to identify the man.
Knowing he was likely identified, the man attended the police headquarters and turned himself into the police.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was released with conditions and a future court date of July 24, 2023.
Man Arrested for Assault CK23031365
At 7:14 p.m., police responded to Wedgewood Avenue in Chatham for a disturbance.
Police arrived on the scene and learned the man had left before the police’s arrival.
Through investigation, police learned an altercation had occurred, and the man and another man resulted in an assault. Police also confirmed he was bound by conditions of a release order and probation order, including not being within 25 metres of the Wedgewood Avenue address and not communicating or being within 100 metres of the occupant of that address.
Police searched the area and located the man.
The 46-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Intimate Partner Violence CK23031395
At 10:07 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Redwood Crescent in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned a physical altercation occurred where the man assaulted the woman causing bodily harm. Police also learned of other incidents between January and June 2023, which resulted in loss of consciousness in one incident.
The 18-year-old Tilbury East Township man was arrested and charged with assault and five counts of assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of July 17, 2023.
