Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 196 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested, and one was on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Sexual Assault CK24028142
On June 9, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., police responded to Mud Creek in Chatham for a sexual assault investigation. Officers learned a man, believed to be a youth, approached a female youth, and touched her in an inappropriate manner.
On June 17, 2024, at 3:13 p.m., police responded again to Mud Creek in Chatham for another sexual assault investigation. Police learned a man, believed to be a young person, approached an adult woman, and touched her in an inappropriate manner.
Following a thorough investigation, officers identified the man.
On June 18, 2024, at 9:32 a.m., the 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of July 22, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault.
Woman Arrested for Mischief CK24028188
At 2:09 p.m., police responded to Fourth Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival officers learned the woman and the man were engaged in an argument. During the argument the woman proceeded to knock her head against a glass window of a local business causing it to break. The two left the area prior to police arrival but were located a short distance away. The woman was under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
The 31-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held until she was sober. He was released with conditions and a future court date of July 22, 2024. She was charged with mischief.
