Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 152 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Drug Offences CK24035465
At 9:45 a.m., the man was observed driving an all-terrain vehicle on Victoria Street, near Bruce Street in Wallaceburg. The officer recognized the man from previous encounters and confirmed he was prohibited from driving due to criminal code convictions. The ATV also did not have a plate affixed.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on Kent Line near Brigden Road. The man attempted to flee by driving into a farmer’s field. When the ATV stalled in a ditch the man attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly took the man into custody.
Upon a search incident to arrest the man was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. Upon further investigation, the ATV was reported stolen on August 8, 2024 from Dutton, Ontario.
The 44-year-old Walpole Island man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He was charged with driving while under suspension, operation while prohibited, resist arrest, possession of stolen property, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK24035564
At 8:17 p.m., police attend the area of Richmond Street and Patteson Avenue in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman and confirmed she was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court to have her prints taken and a July 3, 2024, theft investigation.
The 27-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of August 26, 2024. She is currently facing the following charges: possession of stolen property and two counts of theft.
Woman Arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm CK24035569
At 8:50 p.m., the woman turned herself in to the police. The woman was wanted on a warrant as a result of a July 7, 2024, assault investigation in Wallaceburg.
On July 7, 2024, the woman engaged in a verbal argument with another woman outside a business on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg. The argument escalated when the woman assaulted the other woman, resulting in injuries that required medical attention.
The 31-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of August 26, 2023. She is currently facing the following charge: assault causing bodily harm.
Man Arrested for Theft CK24035600
On July 29, 2024, at 3:02 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on the man, who appeared to have fallen on the sidewalk on St. Clair Street, near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the man was well and did not require medical attention. Officer also confirmed the man was wanted for failing to attend court and a theft investigation.
The 53-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and released with a future court date of August 26, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court, theft, and possession of stolen property.
