Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 187 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested, and five were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24035821
In March 2021 a bench warrant was issued for the man’s arrest when he failed to attend court in relation to 2017 and 2019 assault investigations.
On July 30, 2024, at 11:27 a.m., the police located the man on Murray Street in Wallaceburg. Officers confirmed the warrant and arrested the man.
The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court, peace bond breach, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of uttering threats, three counts of assault with a weapon, and three counts of assault.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24035897
At 6:29 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Gregory Drive near St. Clair Road in Chatham. The vehicle was reported to be driving erratically and then parking behind a business on St. Clair Street.
Officer located the vehicle and found a woman sleeping behind the wheel. The officer believed the woman was under the influenced of an intoxicating substance and arrested her. She was transported to police headquarters for tests. Upon a search incident to arrest, the woman was found in possession of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The 36-year-old Dawn Township woman was charged with impaired driving, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She was released on conditions and a future court date of August 12, 2024.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24035940
On July 31, 2024, at 2:18 a.m., the woman attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. The front desk officer confirmed the woman was wanted on several warrants.
The 49-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. The woman is currently facing the following charges: false alarm of fire, two counts of uttering threats and three counts of failing to attend court.
