The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 198 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Indecent Act CK23035901/ CK23035871
At approximately 9:47 a.m., police responded to an indecent act investigation on Queen Street South in Tilbury.
As police arrived, the officer observed the man buttoning up his pants. The officer also confirmed he was wanted on a warrant related to a criminal harassment investigation.
The 26-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with indecent acts and criminal harassment. He was released with a future court date of August 14, 2023.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK23035988
At 7:08 p.m., police responded to Middle Line in Harwich Township for a mischief investigation.
Through investigation, police learned over the past couple of months that the man damaged the victim’s mailbox several times using various motorized vehicles, such as a golf cart and a tractor.
The 37-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with four counts of mischief. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of August 21, 2023.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23036022
On July 13, 2023, at 12:24 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Police arrived on the scene and located the vehicle. The officer believed the man to be driving while under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to the Ontario Provincial Police Petrolia Detachment for breath tests.
While at the police station, the man refused to provide a breath sample.
The 38-year-old Port Lambton man was charged with impaired driving and refusal to comply with a demand. He was released with a future court date of August 14, 2023.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK23036029
On July 13, 2023, at 3:51 a.m., while on general patrol, officers observed the man acting suspiciously and stopped to investigate on Chatham Street South in Harwich Township.
When approached by officers, the man fled the area. After a short foot chase, the man was located. A conducted energy weapon was utilized to gain compliance and take the man into custody. Upon a search incident to arrest, stolen credit cards and suspected cocaine were found on him.
The 40-year-old Blenheim man was transported to police headquarters and charged with trespassing at night, break and enter, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 10, 2023.
