The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 190 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested on Multiple Warrants CK23035692
At 10:18 a.m., police attended Taylor Avenue in Chatham for a bail violation investigation.
Officers located the woman and confirmed she was wanted on several warrants related to mischief and failing to attend court. She was arrested.
The 35-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23035708 /CK23035831
At 11:36 a.m., police began an intimate partner violence investigation in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned over the past couple of months, the man had assaulted and threatened to cause bodily harm to the victim.
The man was later located, arrested, and transported to police headquarters.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions including not to go to any place the victim is known to work, live or go to school and a future court date.
At 10:20 p.m., police were advised the man had returned to the woman’s home. Police attended, located, and arrested the man. He was transported to police headquarters and additionally charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23035746
At 2:30 p.m., police responded to Turquoise Court in Chatham for a disturbance.
Through investigation, police learned the man had repeatedly shown up at the victim’s work and residence, despite being asked to stay away. It was also discovered that he had threatened to cause bodily harm to the victim and had damaged property belonging to a family member.
The 51-year-old Chatham man was later located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarter and charged with mischief, uttering threats to cause bodily harm and criminal harassment. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 14, 2023.
Man Arrested for Assault CK23035784
At 5:45 p.m., police responded to McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival, police learned the victim and the man argued about the man’s dog relieving itself in a bed of flowers. The victim was recording the man when the man grabbed the phone and threw it to the ground causing damage. The confrontation escalated when the man assaulted the victim.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief and assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of August 14, 2023.
