Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 122 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Zero people were arrested.
Holiday R.I.D.E. Program Statistics
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Holiday R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program, which ran from October 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024. The program, aimed at ensuring road safety during the festive season, has produced the following statistics:
– 10 rides conducted.
– 2,931 vehicles checked.
– 39 roadsides administered.
– 2–3-day warnings issued to 2 individuals
– 1 impaired arrest (only one other impaired arrest related to a motor vehicle collision during the program’s duration)
– 1 Criminal Code other charge
– 1 Liquor License violation
– 7 Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.) charges
The success of the Holiday R.I.D.E. program was only possible with the support and cooperation of the community.
Stolen Vehicle CK24000446
At 8:33 p.m., police responded to Galaxy Cinemas on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a stolen vehicle investigation.
Officers learned the vehicle was parked in the parking lot at 5:50 p.m. and was discovered missing at 8:29 p.m.
The vehicle is described as a white 2017 Dodge Ram, last seen bearing Ontario License plate #BT48153. The vehicle’s box contained numerous garbage bags, clearly visible.

Break and Enter CK24000390
At 1:30 p.m., police responded to a commercial greenhouse on Talbot Trail for a break-and-enter investigation.
Through investigation, officers discovered the suspect entered the facility on December 26, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Once inside, the suspect stole several tools, including Milwaukee batteries, drills, and saws. The tools were engraved with a “L.V.G.” marking.

Collision on Fairview Line Results in Road Closure
On January 4, 2024, at 5:09 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Fairview Line in Harwich Township.
Upon arrival, officers learned the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a hydro pole, causing significant damage. As a result of the collision, the road was closed, and crews were deployed to repair the pole.
The driver, the lone occupant, was charged with careless driving.
