Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 136 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Theft CK24002636
On November 17, 2023, the man entered the LCBO on Wellington Street West in Chatham. He removed several items from the shelves and left without making any attempts to pay. The man was identified through video surveillance, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 18, 2024, at 2:56 p.m., an officer located and arrested the man on Oxley Drive in Chatham.
The 26-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was released with a future court date of January 23, 2024.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24002645
On July 23, 2023, the man was arrested and released with a future court date. When he failed to make a court appearance, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 18, 2024, the man was located and arrested on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
The 32-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He is facing the following charges:
• Failing to comply with a probation order.
• Failing to attend court.
• Two counts of theft and
• two counts of possession of stolen property.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24002692
At 10:47 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on Jane Road in Thamesville.
Upon arrival, officers learned the vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The pole received extreme damage and had to be repaired by Hydro One crews.
Officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests, and the vehicle was towed.
The 23-year-old Thamesville man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 29, 2024.
Man Arrested for Bail Violation CK24002711
On January 19, 2024, at 4:46 a.m., an officer responded to Keil Drive South in Chatham to check on the well-being of a man who was reported standing in the middle of the roadway.
Officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with an undertaking. In December 2023, when the man failed to report to his probation officer, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date. He is currently facing charges of failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with an undertaking.
