Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 158 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK24001388
On December 22, 2024, police began a fraud investigation on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.
The police learned while the victim was in the hospital, several unauthorized purchases and withdrawals were made using the victim’s debit card, and several items were missing from the woman’s apartment. Through investigation, the police formed grounds to arrest the victim’s neighbour.
On January 10, 2024, the woman was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was transported to police headquarters. She was released with conditions and a future court date of February 12, 2024.
Man Arrested for Failing to Comply with Orders CK24001441
On February 17, 2022, police attended the man’s residence on Faubert Drive in Chatham to serve court documents concerning an Ontario Provincial Police matter. The man was not home. Through investigation, officers learned the man was bound by a release order issued by Peel Regional Police Service with conditions prohibiting him from being outside the residence unless under specific exceptions and to present himself at the door when asked by the police. A warrant was issued when the man could not be located.
On January 10, 2024, at 4:40 p.m., the 28-year-old Chatham man attended The Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and turned himself in to the police. The man currently faces the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a release order. He was released with conditions and a future court date of February 12, 2024.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24001484
At 9:49 p.m., police responded to a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Officers learned a verbal argument between two men escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in minor physical injury to the victim. The man also assaulted a woman who was present.
The 60-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK24001487
At 10:13 p.m., police responded to Winterline Road in Dover Township for a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument between the man and the woman escalated when the man struck the woman.
The 24-year-old Dover Township man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of February 26, 2024.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24001502
On January 11, 2024, at 2:37 p.m., police responded to Richmond Street in Chatham for a well-being check on a woman in the area.
The officer attended and located the woman. Officers discovered the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court related to an assault investigation.
The 30-year-old Windsor woman was arrested and released with a new court date. She is currently facing the following charges: assault and mischief.
