Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 177 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested and six were on outstanding warrants.
Man and Woman Arrested CK24008008/ CK24008010
At 7:50 a.m., police responded to an abandoned motor vehicle on Colborne Street in Chatham. Officers arrived on the scene and located a man and woman inside.
Through investigation, officers learned on August 10, 2023, the man was arrested for bail violations. He was released with conditions and a future court date. When he failed to attend this date, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date of March 18, 2024. He currently faces the following charges: possession of stolen property, theft and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
Officers also learned the woman had been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Bridgewater, NS in April 2023 and released with conditions prohibiting her from leaving the province of Nova Scotia and communicating or associating with anyone who has a criminal record.
The 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24008023
On July 5, 2021, the courts released the man with a condition to reattend later in the month. When the man failed to make that court appearance a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 22, 2024, at 8:47 a.m. the man was located on St. Clair Street in Tilbury and arrested.
The 35-year-old Tilbury man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He currently faces the following charges: two counts of failing to attend court.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK24008040
At 10:53 a.m., police responded to Winners on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a theft investigation.
Officers learned the woman entered the store, remove items, and exited the store without paying for the items. The officers identified the woman and attended her residence. The items were recovered, and the woman was arrested.
The 39-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of March 25, 2024.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24008050
On December 19, 2017, the man entered a Peace Bond with a condition to complete specific programs outlined by the court. When the man failed to complete these programs, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 22, 2024, at 11:50 a.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police Headquarter and turned himself into the police.
The 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of March 25, 2024. He currently faces the following charges: breach of recognizance.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK24008147
On February 20, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., police responded to a residence on McGregor Line to investigate suspicious activity. Specifically, a man was found hiding on the property and fled after being confronted by the homeowner.
Through investigation, officers identified the man and also connected him to a theft from August 17, 2023.
On February 23, 2024, the man was located on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.
The 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of March 18, 2024.
