Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 117 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant (CK24007637)
On February 19th, 2024 at approximately 2:36 p.m., police located a man walking on Lacroix Street in Chatham known to have an outstanding warrant for several Criminal Code offences, including Break and Enter, Extortion and Forcible Confinement. The man was subsequently stopped by police and arrested on the strength of this warrant. A search incident to arrest of the man also found him to be in possession of several controlled substances, for which he was additionally charged. The 37-year-old Chatham man was ultimately transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Theft Under $5000, Possession Under $5000 (CK24007619)
On February 19th, 2024 at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a call from an employee at Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham regarding a woman shoplifting in the store. Prior to police arrival, an employee confronted the female suspect, and following a short altercation was able to recover the items concealed within her bag. The woman subsequently fled from the store, however, she was later located by police and arrested for Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. The 31-year-old Chatham woman was ultimately transported to police headquarters for processing, where she was later released on an Undertaking with conditions and a future court date.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter (CK24007711)
On February 20th, 2024 at approximately 1:34 a.m., the owner of Tease Hair Salon in Chatham contacted police to report that was she was currently watching a man on her security cameras try to break into her business. Police immediately attended the area and located the male suspect still on scene, at which time he was arrested for Break and Enter. A query of the man also revealed him to be subject to a 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. curfew, as well as a condition prohibiting him from possessing any break and enter tools, which police determined had been used during the offence. The man was additionally charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The 35-year-old Chatham man was ultimately transported to police headquarters where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
