The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 200 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK23007464
On February 13, 2023, at 10:59 a.m., police responded to a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a theft investigation.
Police learned the woman entered the store and removed several items from the racks. The woman was known to the staff for past theft incidents. When the woman was asked to leave, she began to yell and exited the store with the items, not attempting to pay for them.
Police searched the area and located the woman.
The 50-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen products and failing to comply with a release order. She was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. She was released with a future court date of March 6, 2023.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK23007589
At 11:51 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, the police learned the woman had ended the relationship with the man. The man made several attempts to contact the woman, but when his attempts failed, he attended to the woman’s residence. While at the woman’s home, the man struck a window resulting in damage.
The man left before the police arrived but was located the a short distance away and arrested.
The 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of March 20, 2023.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23007593
At 12:52 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a bicycle without a headlight. The man was also known to the officer from previous incidents.
Through investigation, police learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was arrested. The warrant was issued when the man failed to appear for a court date.
The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date of March 6, 2023.
