Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 171 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23062224
On January 23, 2023, the court released the man with conditions after being charged with several intimate partner violence offences. The conditions prohibited him from communicating with or attending any place where the victim was known to live, work, or go to school.
On November 22, 2023, police learned that the man had breached these conditions over the past couple of months since his release. Officers also learned on November 14, 2023, the man and the victim engaged in a verbal argument that resulted in the man assaulting the victim again. When the man could not be located, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On December 5, 2023, at 10:41 a.m., the man turned himself in to the police.
The 26-year-old Thamesville man was charged with mischief, uttering threats, two counts of assault and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Obstructing a Peace Officer CK23062329
On June 12, 2023, the woman was required to make a court appearance in relation to being charged with fraud and obstructing a peace officer. When she failed to appear, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On December 5, 2023, the woman was in a parking lot on Wellington Street West in Chatham. The officer confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and she was arrested.
The 32-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with obstructing a peace officer, transportation fraud and failing to attend court. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23062335
On December 6, 2023, at 12:54 a.m., police responded to a home on King Street East in Chatham.
Upon arrival, police located a man and woman. Through investigation, the officer formed grounds to arrest the woman for assaulting the man. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
While in police custody, the woman caused damage to a holding cell.
The 21-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault, uttering threats, and mischief. She was released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2023.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23062357
On December 6, 2023, at 4:33 a.m., an officer on patrol observed the man riding a bicycle on Kirk Street in Chatham. The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and confirmed the man was bound by a curfew. The man was stopped, and the curfew was confirmed. The man was prohibited from being outside his residence between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
When the officer attempted to arrest the man, he resisted. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and resisting arrest. He remains in custody.
Man and Woman Arrested for Bail Violations CK23062356/CK23062369
On December 6, 2023, at 4:28 a.m., police responded to an apartment on King Street West in Chatham for an intimate partner violence investigation.
Upon arrival, officers learned the man was bound by release conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the woman, but the woman initiated the communication with the man. Through investigation, the officers also learned of a recent altercation where the man assaulted a woman. Both were arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 28-year-old Chatham woman was charged with facilitating a breach of an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and is currently in custody.
The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with breach of an undertaking and assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
