Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 131 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Driving Offence CK23061940
At 1:30 p.m., an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle on Duke Street in Wallaceburg being driven by a man he knew did not have a valid driver’s license. The officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the man was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code of Canada. The man was arrested, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
The 53-year-old Raleigh Township man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. He was released with conditions and a future court date of December 16, 2023.
Man Arrested for Theft CK23061949
On July 15, 2023, police responded to the Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a shoplifting investigation. The man left before police arrived but was captured on video surveillance. Through investigation, the man was identified and arrested. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 14, 2023.
When the man failed to make his court appearances, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On December 3, 2023, police received information of the man’s location. Officers attended the address, located the man, and seized suspected stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.
The 47-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with a release order and failing to attend court. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Bail Violation CK23061950
At 2:56 p.m., police responded to a residential building on Fifth Street for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officers located the man and confirmed the court had released him with conditions prohibiting him from being at the address. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Assault CK23061962
On December 1, 2023, police began an intimate partner violence investigation in Chatham.
The officer learned the man was at the victim’s home when they began to argue. The argument escalated when the man assaulted the woman. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.
On December 3, 2023, at 3:58 p.m., officers located the man on Grand Avenue East in Chatham, and he was arrested.
The 37-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of December 15, 2023.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23061969
On December 3, 2023, at 5:32 p.m., police were alerted to an assault in the parking lot of the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Grand Avenue in Chatham by witnesses.
Police arrived on the scene and learned the man had assaulted a woman in her vehicle. The man left the area but was located a short distance away.
The 38-year-old Tilbury East Township man was charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
