Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 168 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23064642
At 9:24 a.m., police responded to Balmoral Road in Chatham for a disturbance.
Officers learned the woman texted the victim numerous times, commenting that she was going to cause him harm. When officers located the woman later in the day, she told officers she repeated her comments.
The 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Probation Breach CK23064723
At 4:24 p.m., police responded to an apartment on Fifth Street in Chatham for a family dispute.
Upon arrival, officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on a warrant from an April 14, 2023, breach of probation investigation.
The 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man currently faces two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 22, 2024.
Man Arrested for Theft CK23064774
On November 19, 2023, police responded to Shopper’s Drug Mart in Blenheim for a theft investigation.
The officer learned the man had entered the store, removed items from the shelves, and exited without paying. Video surveillance confirmed the man’s identity. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest when he could not be located.
On December 21, 2023, at 1:20 a.m., police located the man on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 54-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 22, 2024.
Woman Arrested for Causing a Disturbance CK23064780
On December 21, 2023, at 3:50 a.m., police responded to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Grand Avenue in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officer located the woman yelling and screaming profanities outside the hospital. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 48-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with causing a disturbance. She was held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Weapons Dangerous CK23064786
On December 21, 2023, at 4:20 a.m., police responded to Queen Street in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Officers arrived in the area and located the woman walking in the middle of Queen Street, swinging a machete, and yelling obscenities. The woman complied with the officer’s demands to drop the machete and was safely taken into custody.
Through investigation, officers learned the woman had attended a man’s home on Richmond Street with the machete. She raised the machete towards the man during a verbal argument. Officers also learned the woman was bound by a probation order prohibiting her from possessing any weapons.
The 34-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
