The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 167 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Recovered Stolen Motor Vehicle

On 2023-08-06 Police were on general patrol in Howard Township when they came across an abandoned vehicle. An investigation revealed the vehicle was a scrap car that had been stolen from a near by property. The suspects drove the vehicle through a fence and continued a short distance before the vehicle broke down. The suspects then fled the area. The fence suffered moderate damage and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
Single Motor Vehicle Collision

On 2023-08-06 a 56-year-old Chatham man was operating his motor vehicle on River View Line when he lost control. The vehicle left the road and struck several trees. Chatham-Kent Emergency Services attended the scene and treated the driver for moderate injuries. Through investigation it was determined the driver was operating his motor vehicle in a careless manner and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act, S. 130- Careless Driving.
Traffic Stop Leads to Impoundment

On 2023-08-07 a patrol officer observed a motor vehicle being operated by a suspended driver in the city of Chatham. The driver was identified as a 37-year-old Chatham woman. Through investigation it was found the driver was in violation of multiple Highway Traffic Act statutes. The vehicle qualified for impoundment and was seized by the investigating officer. The driver was released with multiple offence notices and a court date.
