Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

On 2023-08-25 at approximately 2000hrs the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a disturbance in Ridgetown. Through investigation it was determined two adult men had engaged in a consensual physical altercation that left one party with serious injuries. The injured party was transported to a local hospital for treatment and the other party was arrested for aggravated assault and held pending a bail hearing.
A person cannot consent to an aggravated assault, which leaves the victim wounded, maimed or disfigured.
Man Arrested for Impaired, Breaching Release Conditions and Failing to Identify

On 2023-08-26 at approximately 0300hrs a Chatham-Kent Police Officer located a vehicle being operated with no lighting. A traffic stop was initiated and the male driver refused to identify himself as required by the Highway Traffic Act. While the driver was being arrested for failure to identify, the officer formed reasonable grounds the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters to provide breath samples.
The driver was identified as a 50 year old Chatham man. While searching the man he was found to be in possession of a prohibited knife which breached a release condition from a non-related criminal matter. Breath tests yielded results in excess of the legal limit. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
