Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 168 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and one as on an outstanding warrant.
Man and Woman Arrested for Bail Violations CK24039266
At 2:57 p.m., police responded to a business on Park Avenue West in Chatham for an unrelated matter. While at this location, officer located the man and woman together.
Officers confirmed the woman was bound by a release order prohibiting her from communicating and being in the presence of the man. The man was also bound by a Probation Order prohibiting him from communicating or being in the presence of the woman.
The 46-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
The 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and released with a future court date. He has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24039327
At 8:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg involving a motorcycle.
The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol. The man refused to comply with a breath test and was arrested.
The 24-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released with a future court date. The man was charged with impaired driving and numerous Highway Traffic Act offences.
Two Men Arrested for Break and Enter CK24039366
On August 19, 2024, at 1:05 a.m., police responded to a break and enter on Bloomfield Road, near Eight Line, in Raleigh Township. Two men were observed via surveillance breaking into the property.
Officers arrived on the scene as the two men fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was intercepted, and the two men fled on foot. After a short foot chase the men were taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered the stolen property, ammunition and suspected cocaine, prescription drugs, and methamphetamine.
The 31-year-old man and the 37- year-old man, both from Chatham, were arrested and transported to police headquarters, where they were held pending a bail hearing. Both men have been charged with break and enter, mischief, flight from police, obstruct police, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device/ammunition, and possession of stolen property.
