Man Arrested for Assault CK23041499
As reported on August 3, 2023, on June 18, 2023, at 1:40 a.m., police responded to a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Police learned a physical altercation occurred between two men, requiring medical attention for their injuries. Through investigation, video evidence and the severity of the injuries sustained, the officer formed grounds to arrest both men.
On August 9, 2023, at 5:31 p.m., the 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was processed at police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of August 28, 2023.
The other man was arrested on August 3, 2023, and released with conditions and a future court date of September 11, 2023.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23041517
At 7:14 p.m., police responded to a home on Park Lane in Chatham for a disturbance.
Police arrived on the scene and located the man. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court.
The 27-year-old Dresden man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was released with conditions and a future court date of September 11, 2023.
Man Arrested for Resisting Arrest CK23041531
At 9:14 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on the man after receiving several 911 calls from him. The calls were traced to Erie Street in Merlin.
Police arrived in the area, and after a ground search, the man was located sitting in a bush next to a shed in the backyard of a residence. The man failed to exit the bush when directed and was uncooperative with the officers. The man was eventually taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
The 37-year-old Etobicoke man was charged with resisting arrest and being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to police headquarters and held until he was sober. The man was released with conditions and a future court date of September 11, 2023.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK23041584
On August 10, 2023, at 4:58 a.m., a police officer conducting regular patrol located the man behind a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Following confirmation that the man was wanted on multiple warrants; he was arrested by the officers.
The 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing several charges, which include theft, possession of stolen property, assault, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and three counts of failing to attend court. The man was transported to the police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Yesterday, members of our Traffic Unit took to the streets, focusing their efforts on Chatham Street in Harwich Township and Talbot Trail in Tilbury East Township. Equipped with advanced technology like Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR), they diligently enforced traffic regulations.
Their dedication paid off as they successfully identified and issued 10 Provincial Offences Notices for a range of speeding and Highway Traffic Act violations. This proactive approach reminds all motorists to prioritize road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
