The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 159 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest (CK23016442)
On April 6th 2023 at 12:15pm police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Talbot Road East in Wheatley. Through investigation, it was learned that the driver of the vehicle was currently subject to an outstanding immigration warrant.
The 46-year-old man was subsequently arrested on the strength of this warrant and transported to police headquarters where custody was later transferred to the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Bench Warrant (CK23016566)
On April 7th, 2023 at 3:36am while conducting general patrol duties, police observed a woman known to have an outstanding warrant riding a bicycle in the area of Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. Police attempted to stop the cyclist, however, she fled from police only to be located a short distance away at an address on Wallace Street.
The 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman was subsequently arrested by police on the strength of this Bench Warrant for failing to attend court. She was released a short time later on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.
Woman Arrested for Criminal Harassment / Fail to Comply with Undertaking (CK23016484)
In March, 2023 police received a call for service in relation to a neighbour dispute on Sarah Street in Thamesville. Through investigation, police formed grounds for the arrest of a 46-year-old woman for Criminal Harassment and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. A warrant was subsequently submitted for her arrest.
On April 6th, 2023 at 3:44pm the accused attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham where she was arrested on the strength of this warrant. She was later transported to police headquarters to be held for a bail hearing.
