The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 169 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested.
Mischief/ – IPV assault/mischief Princess St. S, Chatham CK24011737 /CK24011749
A man (40) and woman (43) became involved in an altercation inside a residence. Both parties damaged each other’s vehicles and then got into physical altercation. Both parties were charged with mischief to each others vehicles. The man was also charged with assault and released with a future court date of April 29/2024.
Warrant arrest Fail to appear University Drive Chatham CK24011757
A 40 year old woman had been charged previously and given a court date. This woman fail to appear in court for the second time. The woman was arrested and held for bail due to a personal choice not to attend court as per previous releases.
Indecent Act – Indecent Act. Stanley Ave , Chatham CK24011774
A 42 year old man while under the influence of drugs and exposed himself to staff at a local medical building. The man was arrested and held for bail.
Disturbance leads to arrest Dover Centre Line, Dover Twp CK24011801
The Chatham-Kent police were contacted for a disturbance at a residence on Dover Centre Line Dover TWP at 11:42 pm. The police arrived in the area and attempted to make contact with a man at this location. Due to safety concerns, negotiations with a man at this residence were attempted. The incident required the deployment of specialized units and resources, including the Critical Incident Response Team, Canine Unit, Criminal Investigation Branch, drones and Armoured rescue Vehicle. Approximately four hours later a 32 year old man was taken into custody. This incident is currently still under investigation.
RIDE (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) Chatham CK24011769
Chatham officers conducted a RIDE program in Chatham 253 vehicles were checked, three tests done and one person having their licence suspended for three days.
St Patrick’s weekend celebrations
The Chatham-Kent Police encourage everyone to celebrate St Patrick’s day safely. If you are out celebrating and having drinks please:
• Identify a designated driver for your group.
• Do not let friends drive after drinking. Take their keys.
• If you have been drinking, get a ride home from a friend who has not been drinking or call a taxi or Local ride sharing services
• If you host a party with alcohol, offer alcohol-free beverages and remind guests to designate a sober driver.
• If you suspect a drunk driver on the road, call the police and provide the location, direction the vehicle is headed, the vehicle’s make, model, color and license plate number.
The Chatham-Kent Police will be conducting RIDE programs across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to ensure everyone is kept safe.
