Q: How is COVID-19 affecting Police Operations in Chatham-Kent?
A: We are asking members of the public to refrain from attending any police facilities unless absolutely necessary. If you must attend, you will subject to screening questions related to COVID-19 health risks.
If you require an officer to attend your location for a non-emergency incident, you will be asked screening questions related to COVID-19 health risks, over the telephone, before an officer is dispatched.
In an emergency, officers will respond, however you may see them wearing personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, for their own protection, if the situation is unknown. CKPS members are properly trained in using PPE. Healthy people do not need to wear gloves and masks. For more info on when & how to wear a mask, please see https://www.publichealthontario.ca/-/media/documents/ncov/factsheet/factsheet-covid-19-how-to-wear-mask.pdf?la=en

In this time of uncertainty, it’s important that everyone remain calm and rely on credible sources for information.
