Q: How is COVID-19 affecting Police Operations in Chatham-Kent?
A: We are asking members of the public to refrain from attending any police facilities unless absolutely necessary. If you must attend, you will subject to screening questions related to COVID-19 health risks.
If you require an officer to attend your location for a non-emergency incident, you will be asked screening questions related to COVID-19 health risks, over the telephone, before an officer is dispatched.
In an emergency, officers will respond, however you may see them wearing personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, for their own protection, if the situation is unknown. CKPS members are properly trained in using PPE. Healthy people do not need to wear gloves and masks. A: The Collision Reporting Centre remains open, however in an effort to be socially responsible, members of the public are asked to call 519-355-1937 and speak with CRC staff before attending police headquarters.

A: The Superior and Ontario Court of Justice will be expanding its operations on July 6, 2020 as it resumes hearing family law matters, criminal trails and preliminary inquiries.

Q: What are the penalties for contravening the Quarantine Act?
A: Maximum penalties include a fine of up to $750,000 and/or imprisonment for six months. Further, a person who causes a risk of imminent death or serious bodily harm to another person while willfully or recklessly contravening this Act or the regulations could be liable for a fine of up to $1,000,000 or imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
