Man Charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK23043089
Around 11:00 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of a man standing in the middle of the road on Murray Street in Wallaceburg with no shoes on.
For his own safety, the intoxicated man was taken into custody as he was unable to care for himself. The 22-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He will be released when sober.
Shoplifting Complaint leads to Charges CK23042875
On June 15th and June 19th, 2023 the 25-year-old Chatham man was released from Court with several conditions. One of the conditions stated that he was to not attend a business on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned the man attended the business twice yesterday and stole two bottles of liquor. Police located the man and arrested him. He was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of property obtained by crime $5,000 and four counts of failing to comply with his release order. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Theft Complaint leads to Recovered Stolen Vehicle CK23043101
Early this morning around 12:20 a.m., police responded to a complaint of a man and woman attempting to steal a trailer on Sass Road in Chatham. The man and woman left the area in a vehicle and were located by police near the overpass of the 401 and Scane Road in Ridgetown. The woman was located in the vehicle and placed under arrest. The man attempted to flee from police on foot and was located a short distance away. Through investigation, police also learned that the vehicle they were operating was reported stolen from Toronto on May 15th, 2023.
The 51-year-old man of Grand Pointe was charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with release order. The 50-year-old Windsor woman was charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and facilitating a breach. Both the man and woman were held pending a bail hearing.
