The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 210 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision (CK23026000)
Last night at approximately 9:43pm, emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Ninth Line and Merlin Road. The collision involved a single car. The driver, a 27-year-old Wheatley man, was driving a vehicle westbound on Ninth Line when his vehicle collided with the ditch on the west side of Merlin Road. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Traffic Management Unit has taken over the investigation. Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrants (CK23025977)
On May 26th, 2023 at approximately 7:54pm police responded to a report of a woman causing a disturbance in the area of Albert Street in Wallaceburg. Upon arrival, police located the woman and through investigation determined that she had several outstanding warrants for mischief, failing to attend court and assault. The 20-year-old woman was subsequently arrested on the strength of these warrants and transported to police headquarters were she was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Examples of when to call 9-1-1:
• Events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property: screams, attacks, gunshots, fires, car accidents with injuries or any other medical emergency.
• An in-progress crime. This includes fights, break and enters (if there is a suspect on the scene), or an impaired driver report.
• A serious crime that has just occurred (examples: sexual assault or robbery)
• A suspicious circumstance that may indicate an imminent criminal act (examples: prowler, vandal)
