The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 159 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Fourteen people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23014531
At 4:38 p.m., police responded to the Government dock in Jeanette’s Creek to check on the well-being of a man. Police were advised the man was physically ill and believed to be intoxicated.
Police attended and located the man in his vehicle. The responding officer believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for a breath test. Once at headquarters, the man refused to provide a sample of breath.
The 63-year-old Tilbury East Township man was charged with refusing to comply with a breath demand and operating a vehicle while impaired. He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 24, 2023.
Three People Arrested for Assault CK23014564
At 7:22 p.m., police responded to an assault investigation on Running Creek Drive in Wallaceburg.
Police learned the three people attended the victim’s address in a vehicle. Two people approached the victim while the third stayed in the vehicle. One person punched the victim while another used a conducted energy device on the victim. All three fled the area in the vehicle.
Police located the vehicle on Devonshire Road in Chatham and conducted a traffic stop. All three individuals were arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Upon a search, incident to arrest, police located two conducted energy weapons and suspected oxycodone tablets.
The 47-year-old Chatham man was charged with party to an assault, party to an assault with a weapon and possessing a prohibited weapon. He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 8, 2023.
A 43-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault, party to assault with a weapon, possessing a prohibited weapon, failing to comply with a release order, three counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was held pending a bail hearing.
A 39-year-old Chatham woman was charged with two counts of party to an assault, assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, three counts of possessing a weapon country to a prohibition order and failing to comply with a probation order. She was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Theft CK23014607
On March 16, 2023, March 19, 2023, and March 25, 2023, police responded to businesses on Park Avenue west, Grand Avenue West and Lacroix Street in Chatham for theft investigations. The man was identified in each investigation for theft.
On March 27, 2023, at 2:02 a.m., while on general patrol officer observed the man walking on Park Street in Chatham. When police attempted to stop the man, he ran. After a foot chase, the man was located and arrested.
The 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possessing stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Assault CK23014610
On March 27, 2023, at 3:03 a.m., police responded to Regent Street in Blenheim for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the woman entered her mother’s bedroom and punched her in the head, resulting in minor physical injury.
A 26-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of April 24, 2023.
