Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 182 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 12 people were arrested and 5 were on outstanding warrants.
Assault CK24023802
At approximately 8:11 p.m., police received reports of large group of about 50 people involved in a physical altercation within Tecumseh Park, possibly involving prohibited weapons. Multiple youths were located, arrested by police, and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where they were charged accordingly and later released with a future court date and conditions. An aerosol weapon was recovered on scene and lodged as evidence.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK24023827
At approximately 10:32 p.m., police were called to a residential address in the area of McNaughton Av, West, in Chatham regarding a break and enter.
Upon investigation it was determined that a Chatham man had been house-sitting for a friend and found that the residence had been entered through an unlocked door the night prior. Approximately $1000.00 worth of electronics were removed from the residence. The incident is currently under investigation.
Traffic Enforcement CK24023689
At approximately 9:08 a.m., in the area of William Street in Chatham, police conducted a traffic stop with a suspected suspended driver after confirming suspension through the Ministry of Transportation.
Upon further investigation, police determined that the 55-year-old Chatham female driver was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug. Subsequent to the arrest, the driver was found to be in possession of a controlled drug and substance.
The female was later transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where she was charged accordingly and later released with a future court date and conditions.
