emergency response team

The Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) is a specialized group of 13 officers, 12 Constables, and 1 Supervisor who are trained to handle high-risk situations. All E.R.T. officers maintain regular patrol duties and represent the Operational Support Branch.

The primary objective of the Emergency Response Team is to safely resolve dangerous situations, using strategic planning, de-escalation techniques, and precise actions to minimize risk to both civilians and officers.

E.R.T. is often deployed in incidents of Armed, Barricaded or Violent Persons, Execution of High-Risk Warrants, Searches, Missing Vulnerable Persons, Canine Tracks, Public Order, VIP Protection, Court Security, Emergency Situations or Disasters.

E.R.T. officers receive advanced training in tactical operations, crisis negotiations, the use of specialized equipment, and less-lethal weapons.

With the ability to provide a rapid and professional response to high-risk situations, the Emergency Response Team is a vital asset to Chatham-Kent and surrounding jurisdictions.
