FOR AN EMERGENCY, CALL 9-1-1

The Chatham-Kent Police Service created the Bicycle Registration to protect bicycles owned by residents of Chatham-Kent. This program is intended to return bicycles to their rightful owner in the event it is stolen or lost and recovered by our police service.

It is important that residents still make a police report if their bike is stolen.

About the Bicycle Registry

We are proud to offer this additional service to help protect your bicycle from theft.  To prevent theft of your bicycle, we recommend investing in a good quality lock and securing your bicycle and wheels to an immovable object.

Most bicycles are marked with a serial number, or they have distinguishing features. If yours does not have a serial number, engrave an identifying number on the frame.  You can also mark your wheels and components with the same number to make it even easier to identify.

Register your bicycle or e-bike

Registering your bicycle will greatly assist in its recovery if stolen.

The most proficient thief can bypass weak, inexpensive locks, or come upon your bicycle during the “ONE” instance you forget to lock it. The Chatham-Kent Police Service recovers hundreds of stolen and abandoned bicycles every year, but is often unable to identify the owner because the theft is often unreported. Sometimes, citizens do not have any serial numbers recorded to report to the Police at the time of the theft.

Online report criteria:

  • You MUST have a valid email address.
  • You MUST provide the bicycle serial number, make, style, and colour.
  • You MUST disable your computer’s pop-up blocking software before you may proceed.
  • The Chatham-Kent Police Service Bicycle Registry is for residents of Chatham-Kent only.
  • Once you complete the online registration information and it is received by the Chatham-Kent Police Service, you will receive email confirmation.

Please Note:

  • Filing a false police report is a criminal offence.
  • You may be contacted by email or telephone if further information is required.
