The Chatham‑Kent Police Service has arrested a Tilbury man following an investigation into two separate break‑and‑enter incidents involving the theft of copper wire from a business in Tilbury (CK26002049).
During the week of January 5, a business located on Industrial Park Road in Tilbury was targeted in two separate break and enters. In both incidents, a quantity of copper wire was stolen. During the thefts, significant damage was caused to equipment housing the copper wire, resulting in an estimated total repair cost of approximately $260,000.
On January 9, 2026, Members of the Chatham Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Tilbury. As a result of the search, a 24‑year‑old Tilbury male was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Break and Enter x 2
- Possession of Property Under $5,000
- Mischief Over $5,000
Copper wire and equipment belonging to the business were recovered during the investigation.
The individual was transported to the South West Detention Centre (SWDC), where he will remain in custody until his next scheduled video court appearance on January 12, 2026.
