Structure Fire Under Investigation in Chatham – CK26072178
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is assisting the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services with an investigation into a commercial structure fire that occurred early this morning at Mike’s Place Restaurant on Queen Street in Chatham.
At approximately 2:03 a.m. on September 29, 2026, emergency services were called to the business following reports of smoke, flames, and breaking glass. Emergency crews arrived within minutes and observed heavy flames coming from the building. Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue worked to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring businesses and properties.
No injuries were reported. Damage to the restaurant is believed to be significant. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, pending further examination by fire and police investigators.
