The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Impaired Refusal – CK25053706

Date: September 6, 2025, Time: 0440 hrs., Location: Keil Drive North, Chatham

On September 6, 2025, at approximately 440 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop after forming reasonable grounds that a driver, a 47-year-old female from Chatham, had consumed alcohol. An approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was read to the driver. However, the individual refused to provide a sample.

As a result, the driver was arrested and charged with refusing to provide a breath sample. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists that refusing to comply with a lawful breath demand carries consequences including charges such as a license suspension. Additionally, drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs continues to pose a significant risk to drivers on the road.

MVC/Impaired- CK25053895

Date: September 6, 2025, Time: 22:56 hrs., Location: Tramway Road, Cadmen Township

On September 6, 2025, at approximately 22:56 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in Camden Township. An F250 truck travelling along Tramway Road left the roadway and rolled into a ditch.

Upon arrival, officers had grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Chatham, was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for further testing.

The driver was charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of September 23, 2025.

Break & Enter/ RPG Arrest/Drugs- CK25051760/ CK25054047

Date: September 7, 2025, Time: 19:14 hrs., Location: James Street, Wallaceburg

On August 28, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers were dispatched to an address in Wallaceburg in response to a reported break and enter.

Through investigation, police learned that earlier that morning, surveillance footage captured two individuals, a 40-year-old male from Walpole Island and a 31-year-old female from Port Lambton inside the residence.

The complainant, a 31-year-old female from Wallaceburg reported that several items were stolen.

Officers attended the residence and observed evidence of forced entry through a basement window.

Police formed grounds to arrest both individuals. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the individuals for the following charges:

  • Count 1: Break and Enter
  • Count 2: Theft Under $5000
  • Count 3: Possession of Stolen property under $5000

On September 7, 2025, at approximately 19:14 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious person.

Officers located the 40-year-old male from Walpole, who was found to be in connection with an ongoing break and enter investigation (CK25051760).

During the arrest, officers also discovered drugs in the individual’s possession.

The accused was additionally charged with the following:

  • Count 4: Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail. A warrant remains outstanding for the 31-year-old female at this time.
