The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Bail Violations – CK25055846
Date: September 15, 2025, Time: 17:43 hrs, Location: Grand Avenue, West, Chatham
On June 22, 2022, a 31-year-old female from Chatham-Kent appeared before an Officer in Charge at Durham Regional Police Service and entered into an Undertaking.
The conditions prohibited communication or association with a 34-year-old male from Chatham, except through legal counsel or pursuant to court orders. The Undertaking also required the individual to remain a set distance away from the victim’s places of residence, school and work.
These conditions were imposed following a prior IPV-related assault incident between the victim and the accused in 2022.
On September 15, 2025, at approximately 17:43 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance complaint on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers observed the accused and the victim together inside the unit. As a result, the accused was charged with the following:
- Count 1: Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she is currently being held for bail.
Arrest, Warrants – CK25055740
Date: September 15, 2025, Time: 09:43 hrs, Location: Grand Ave. W. Chatham
On June 3, 2025, at approximately 06:30 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a report of an assault at a residence in Chatham.
The incident began after an argument escalated between the two involved parties. During the altercation the victim reported being physically assaulted and a personal item belonging to the victim was taken by the accused.
Following the investigation, a 42-year-old male from Chatham was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Overcoming Resistance to Commission of Offence
- Count 2: Assault by Choking
- Count 3: Theft Under $5000
The accused fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On September 15, 2025, at approximately 9:43 hrs, the accused was arrested at court on a surety relief warrant. He was later released with a scheduled future court date of October 3, 2025.
