The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Shoplifting – CK25061193
Date: October 9, 2025, Time: 16:45 hrs, Location: Mill Street West, Tilbury
On October 9, 2025, at approximately 16:45 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a retail business in Tilbury.
Investigations revealed that a 39-year-old woman from Tilbury concealed merchandise from the business and attempted to exit the store without making a payment.
Officers located and arrested the individual at the store. Further investigation also revealed that the accused also possessed a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Subsequently, the accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1 – Theft under $5,000
- Count 2 – Possession under $5,000
- Count 3 – Breach of probation order
- Count 4 – Breach of probation order
The individual was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she is currently being held for bail.
Arrest, Traffic Complaint – CK25061215
Date: October 9, 2025, Time: 18:15 hrs, Location: King Street, Chatham
On October 9, 2025, at approximately 18:14 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police officers observed a motorcycle travelling in Chatham without a licence plate.
Further investigations revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen. Additionally, the driver, a 40-year-old male from Blenheim, possessed a suspended driver’s licence and a prohibited weapon was also recovered during the arrest.
Police arrested the accused who attempted to flee and obstruct officers. The accused was subsequently charged with the following offences:
- Count 1 –Obstruct Peace Officer
- Count 2 –Resist Peace Officer
- Count 3 –Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon at Unauthorized Place
- Count 4 –Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Count 5 –Driving While Under Suspension
- Count 6 – Driving While Under Suspension
- Count 7 – Driving While Under Suspension
- Count 8 –Drive motor vehicle, No plates
- Count 9 –Drive Motor Vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device
Subsequently, the accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service where he was released with a scheduled future court date of November 18, 2025.
Arrest, Warrants – CK25061253
Date: October 9, 2025, Time: 22:20 hrs, Location: King Street West, Chatham
On October 1, 2025, at approximately 14:00 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft from a local retail store on Wellington Street West, Chatham.
A 29-year-old male from Chatham had entered a retail store, where he selected merchandise. He then attempted to conceal the items and proceeded to exit the store without attempting to pay for the items.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the individual’s arrest for the following offences:
- Count 1: Theft under $5000
- Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
On October 9, 2025, at approximately 22:20 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers located the 29-year-old male during a person stop on King Street, Chatham. The accused was wanted on outstanding warrant.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of November 17, 2025.
