The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Assault – CK25061093
Date: October 9, 2025, Time: 03:46 hrs, Location: Walker Avenue, Wheatley
On October 9, 2025, at approximately 03:46 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance in Wheatley.
Investigations revealed that an altercation had occurred between two individuals including a 65-year-old male from Wheatley and a 45-year-old male from Leamington.
Upon arrival, officers located the 45-year-old male with non-life-threatening injuries. However, additional medical attention was required, and the individual was transported to the hospital due to the extent of his injury.
Subsequently, the 65-year-old male was charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.
Weapons/Drug Offences – CK25061079
Date: October 9, 2025, Time: 00:32hrs, Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On October 9, 2025, at approximately 00:32 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
A vehicle identified at the scene fled the area before police arrival. The vehicle was later located and stopped by police in Chatham.
Subsequently, a search was conducted following the observation of prohibited items within the vehicle, which led to the discovery of a firearm and additional prohibited items.
All four occupants of the vehicle, a 39-year-old male, and a 20-year-old female and a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old male all from Chatham were arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Unlawful Possession of and Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
The individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where they are currently being held for bail.
