The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 96 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Robbery- CK25061503

Date: October 10, 2025, Time: 11:15 hrs, Location: Grand Avenue W, Chatham

On October 10, 2025, at approximately 11:15 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in Chatham.

Investigation revealed that a 21-year-old male from Chatham entered the store, attempted to purchase merchandise and threatened a victim, a 32-year-old male from Chatham with a weapon. The individual then left the store without paying for the items.

Officers located the suspect nearby who was still in possession of the stolen merchandise.

Further investigation also revealed that the individual was found to be in breach of his release conditions which prohibited him from attending the establishment and possessing any weapons.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Count 2: Disguise with Intent
  • Count 3: Armed Robbery
  • Count 4: Weapons Dangerous
  • Count 5: Assault with a Weapon
  • Count 6: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Count 7: Being Intoxicated in a public place
  • Count 8: Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Count 9: Mischief Under $5,000

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquater, where he is currently being held for bail.

Assault – CK25061712

Date: October 11, 2025, Time: 23:51 hrs, Location: Shadd Road, South Buxton

On October 11, 2025, at approximately 23:51 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance at a local event venue. Upon arrival, officers learned that an argument between an accused, a 48-year-old male from Ridgetown and a victim, 26-year-old male from Florence, which had escalated into a physical altercation.

During the incident, the 26-year-old male was assaulted along with a second victim.

Police, along with Emergency Medical Services, attended the scene, both victims were assessed. Additional medical attention was not required.

Subsequently, the accused was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Assault x2 

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a future court date of November 18, 2025

Arrest/Theft – CK25061712

Date: October 12, 2025, Time: 16:00 hrs, Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg

On October 12, 2025, at approximately 16:00 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft from a retail business in Wallaceburg.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 43-year-old male from Chatham-Kent had left the store with unpaid merchandise.

Officers located the individual travelling northbound on McNaughton Avenue, who was found to be in possession of the stolen items.

Further investigation revealed that the individual is currently bound by conditions not to attend the business from a previous release order.

Subsequently, he was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Count 3: Fail to Comply with Undertaking

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was with a scheduled court date of November 9, 2025.

Arrest/Bail Violations – CK25062069/CK25062076

Date: October 13, 2025, Time14:57 hrs: Location: St. Clair St., Chatham

On June 19, 2025, at approximately, 3:20 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft from a local retail business on St. Clair St., Chatham.

The accused, 41-year-old female from Blenheim, had taken merchandise without making a payment. She was later located by officers and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1 – Theft under $5,000
  • Count 2 – Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of July 14, 2025, which she failed to attend. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On October 13, 2025, at approximately 15:10 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious person at the same retail store in Chatham. Investigation revealed that the accused, who is currently bound by court conditions to not attend the property and was also wanted on outstanding warrants was at the location.

The individual was located and arrested. She was charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Failure to comply with release order

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was is currently being held for bail.
