The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 48 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest/MVC/Impaired – CK25068573

Date: November 13, 2025, Time: 17:52 hrs, Location: Erie Street North, Wheatley

On November 13, 2025, at approximately 17:52 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision, on Erie Street North, Wheatley.

During the investigation, officers formed grounds that one of the involved drivers, a 39-year-old male from Leamington was impaired by alcohol. Investigation also revealed that the diver of the second vehicle, a 57-year-old female from Wheatley, required additional medical attention and was transported to the hospital.

As a result of the investigation, the 39-year-old male was arrested and transported to Leamington Ontario Provincial Police Service for further breath testing. The accused provided two breath samples, both resulting in failure.

He was subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Count 2: Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released and provided with a future court date of December 2, 2025.

Arrest/Arson – CK25068586

Date: November 13, 2025, Time: 19:00 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On November 13, 2025, at approximately 19:00 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of arson at a local business on St. Clair Street, Chatham.

Investigations revealed that a male suspect was observed by witnesses attempting to ignite items in a downspout located at the rear of the business. After lighting the items, the accused left the scene on foot. Witnesses extinguished the fire, which resulted in damage to the structure. Based on the investigation, officers formed reasonable probable grounds to arrest the accused.

A short while later, officers received another call for service regarding a male suspect matching an identical description. The suspect was observed damaging a phone box at the intersection of Lacroix Street and Grand Avenue West. Through the use of CCTV footage, it was verified that the mischief was conducted by the male suspect matching the description from the previous incident.

Officers located and identified the individual as a 29-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.

He was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Count 2: Mischief Under $5,000

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.

Arrest/Weapons – CK25068641

Date: November 14, 2025, Time: 04:50 hrs, Location: CKPS HQ

On November 8, 2025, at approximately 15:31 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a weapons complaint on Highland Drive, Chatham (CK25067484).  

The investigation revealed that a verbal dispute, which led to a physical altercation, occurred between two individuals, a 44-year-old male from Blenheim and a 42-year-old male from Chatham. At the conclusion of the altercation, the 44-year-old male displayed a firearm before fleeing the area in a vehicle. Video surveillance footage of the incident was also obtained by officers.

Officers formed reasonable grounds to arrest and charge the individual with the following offences:

  • Count 1 – Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Count 2 – Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Count 3 – Assault with a Weapon
  • Count 4 – Firearm – Use While Committing Offence

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On November 13, 2025, at approximately 04:50 hrs, the accused surrendered himself at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for several firearms charges. The individual is currently being held for bail.

Arrest/B&E Commercial – CK25068622

Date: November 14, 2025, Time: 19:00 hrs, Location: St. Clair St., Chatham

On November 14, 2025, at approximately 00:34 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a Break and Enter at a commercial business on St. Clair Street, Chatham. Witnesses observed two youths who broke the front window of the store and entered the building.

Several officers arrived within minutes and arrested the youths after a brief foot chase.

Subsequently, they were both charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Break and Enter Commit Theft
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where they are currently being held for bail.
