On Saturday October 4th, 2025, at 2:38PM, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Talbot Trail between Bloomfield Road and Craford Road within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. This collision involved a single motorcycle operated by a lone rider a 78-year-old male from Charing Cross. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Due to the nature of the injuries, the Traffic Management Unit was called into take over the investigation. This portion of Talbot Trail remained closed for several hours but has since reopened to the public. The Chatham-Kent Police Service offers its sincere condolences to the family involved in this incident.
Through investigation it was learned that a piece of furniture had fallen off a motor vehicle travelling on Talbot Trail near the collision scene. The motorcycle struck this piece of furniture and lost control on the roadway and continued into a ditch and ultimately collided with a tree. A 67-year-old female from Blenheim Ontario has been identified as the operator of this motor vehicle in which the furniture had fallen off from.
