Operation While Impaired – CK26034577
Date: May 15, 2026, 1733hrs Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On May 15, 2026, at approximately 1733hrs, police were dispatched to the area of St. Clair Street and Pioneer Line after receiving a traffic complaint.
Police located the vehicle and after speaking with the female driver, made an Approved Screening Device demand. The device registered a “Fail.”
The driver was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing, which revealed a Blood Alcohol Concentration over the legal limit.
As a result, a 35-year-old Chatham female was charged with the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
She was later released on a Form 10 with a future court date of June 23, 2026.
Traffic Enforcement/Drug Offences – CK26034783, CK26034786, CK26034787
Date: May 16, 2026, 0639hrs Location: Joseph Street, Chatham
On May 16, 2026, at approximately 0639hrs, police conducted a traffic stop after receiving a hit from the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition system.
Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was driving while suspended and was not wearing his seatbelt properly.
He was unable to provide a permit or insurance for the vehicle and had a licence plate affixed to it which did not belong.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was deemed “unfit” to be driven on a roadway.
He was issued Part 3 Summonses for the following offences:
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Driver – Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt
- Fail to Surrender Permit
- Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance
- Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
- Operate Unsafe Vehicle
During the stop, police also learned that the driver was wanted for failing to attend court.
As a result, a 40-year-old Chatham man arrested on the strength of the warrant.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located 44 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine. At the time, the male was bound by an undertaking with conditions not to be in possession of controlled substances.
He was subsequently arrested for:
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for bail.
Impaired Operation (Refusal) – CK26035015
Date: May 16, 2026, 2207hrs Location: Chatham Street North, Blenheim
On May 16, 2026, at approximately 2207hrs, a vehicle was witnesses to be driving erratically.
Police were dispatched and located the vehicle parked in a parking lot with a female occupying the driver’s seat. Police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and noted that she was slurring her words.
A 41-year-old Wardsville female was arrested for Operation While Impaired and read a breath demand.
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where she was given opportunity to provide the requested breath samples.
She was additionally charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply With Demand.
She was released on a Form 10 with a future court date of June 23, 2026.
Impaired Operation (Refusal) – CK26035037
Date: May 16, 2026, 2341hrs Location: Lacroix Street, Chatham
On May 16, 2026, officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere spot check on Lacroix Street in Chatham when they noted a vehicle attempting to avoid speaking with officers.
Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the male driver. Police demanded that he provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device.
A 49-year-old Chatham male was arrested for Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.
He was released on a Form 9 with a future court date of June 23, 2026.
His vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. His licence was also suspended.
Assault (IPV) – CK26035427
Date: May 18, 2026, 1150hrs Location: Chatham
On May 18, 2026, at 1150hrs, police were contacted regarding an assault at a north Chatham residence.
A female had been pushed by a male, sustaining no physical injuries.
A 45-year-old Chatham male was arrested for Assault.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released on a Form 10 with a future court date.
