The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
CK26021009– Bail Violation
Date: March 25, 2026, Time: 6:24 hrs., Location: Little Street North, Blenheim
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 6:24 hrs, a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer observed a suspicious male in a vehicle, with the driver’s door open, in front of a residence on Little Street North in Blenheim.
Upon investigation, the male was identified as a 44-year-old male from Blenheim. After identifying himself, the male attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended.
Further investigation revealed that the individual had unlawfully entered the vehicle and items had been disturbed. The accused was also bound by conditions not to enter any motor vehicle without permission.
As a result, the individual was arrested and charged with the following:
- Attempted Theft
- Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2
Subsequently, the accused was transported to the South West Detention Centre (SWDC) where he is remanded until his next video court appearance on April 2, 2026.
CK26021156– Breach of Probation
Date: March 25, 2026, Time: 19:41 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 19:41hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a shoplifting incident at a retail store on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
The investigation revealed that a 28-year-old female from Wallaceburg entered the store, selected merchandise and left without paying.
The accused was located by officers
Further investigation revealed that the accused was found to be on probation with conditions not to attend the location.
The individual was arrested and charged with the following:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where, she was released with conditions and a future court date of July 9, 2026.
CK26021206 – Impaired Operation
Date: March 25, 2026, Time: 23:23 hrs., Location: Queen Street, Chatham
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 23:24hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Holland Avenue, Chatham.
The investigation revealed that a male driver had consumed alcohol and was operating a motor vehicle.
The driver, a 25-year-old male from Chatham, displayed signs of impairment and subsequently, he was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent police Service for further breath testing which resulted in the accused being over the legal limit.
The accused was charged with the following:
- Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
He was later released with conditions and a future court date of July 7, 2026.
