Arrest, Warrants – CK26017404

Date: March 10, 2026, Time: 12:30hrs., Location: Walpole Island

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 12:39 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a local retail store on St. Clair Street in Chatham (CK26002798).

Investigations revealed that a male accused entered the store, opened merchandise and consumed it inside the premises. Staff directed the accused to leave the store, at which time he became verbally abusive towards employees before exiting.

A short time later, the accused returned to the store, selected merchandise and left without making an attempt to pay.

Police located the individual who was identified as a 30-year-old male from Walpole Island. He was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a court date of February 18, 2026. The accused failed to attend and subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 12:30 hrs., the accused was located by Walpole Island Police and he was returned to the Chatham-Kent Police Service where he is currently held for bail.

Harassment – CK26017487

Date: March 10, 2026, Time: 12:30hrs., Location: Chatham

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 18:38 hours, Chatham‑Kent Police responded to a report of harassment involving unwanted and persistent communication.

The investigation revealed that a 37-year-old male accused from Chatham had previously been cautioned by police regarding unwanted contact with an 18-year-old female victim from Chatham, known to him only through her employment at local retail store.

The victim contacted police to report that the accused had continued to send her unwanted and inappropriate messages, despite being cautioned by police to cease all communication.

Officers located the accused in Chatham, where he was arrested at approximately 01:06 hours. The accused was charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Harassing Communications

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.

Fail to Stop – CK26017545

Date: March 10, 2026, Time: 22:30 hrs., Location: Dufferin and Arnold Street, Wallaceburg

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 22:30 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers observed a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign near Dufferin Avenue and Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.

When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen travelling westbound toward Walpole Island.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to advise the public that failing to stop at a stop sign puts everyone on the road at risk, including other motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. Stop signs are in place to control traffic flow and prevent collisions at intersections. Drivers are reminded that they must come to a complete stop, ensure the intersection is clear and proceed safely.
