Police responded to several occurrences between June 5-7, 2026.
Operation While Impaired – CK26041081, CK26041163 and CK26041272
Date: June 7, 2026, 0357hrs Location: Orangewood Boulevard, Chatham
On June 7, 2026, police responded to several incidents of impaired driving.
On June 7, 2026 at approximately 0357hrs, a vehicle was stopped on Orangewood Boulevard for erratic driving.
Police requested the driver provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device. After the device registered a “Fail”, the male was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing.
He was released unconditionally, however, his licence was suspended for seven days, as his Blood Alcohol Concentration was over 50mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Also on June 7, 2026, at approximately 1252hrs, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision with a light pole on Fifth Street in Chatham. No injuries were reported.
Police requested the driver provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device. After the device registered a “Fail”, the male was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing, which revealed a Blood Alcohol Concentration over the legal limit.
As a result, a 32-year-old Chatham male is facing charges for Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).
He was released on a Form 10 with a court date of July 13, 2026.
Later, on June 7, 2026 at approximately 2228hrs, an officer observed a vehicle swerving on McNaughton Avenue, failing to stop at stop signs and travelling at a high rate of speed.
While officers were attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver pulled into a Prince Albert Road driveway and fled inside a residence, freshly pursued by police.
The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where he provided samples of this breath.
An 18-year-old Chatham male is facing charges for the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Concentration 80-plus
He was released on a Form 10 with a court date of July 16, 2026.
Break and Enter – CK26041180
Date: June 7, 2026, 1447hrs Location: George Street, Chatham
On June 7, 2026, at approximately 1447hrs, police were dispatched to a George Street residence regarding a break-and-enter.
Upon returning to their residence, a homeowner located a female inside.
As a result, a 46-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested for Break-and-Enter to a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence.
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service’s headquarters and released on a Form 10 with a court date of August 31, 2026.
Assault – CK26040811
Date: June 6, 2026, 0804hrs Location: Tilbury
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 0804hrs, police attended an address in Tilbury regarding an assault.
A male pushed a female resulting in minor physical injuries.
As a result, a 40-year-old Tilbury male was arrested for Assault.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and released on a Form 10 with a future court date.
Assault (IPV)/Bail Violations – CK26040974/CK26040984/CK26040992
Date: June 6, 2026, 2004hrs Location: Chatham
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 2004hrs, police were dispatched to an address in Chatham for an Intimate Partner Violence disturbance.
Witnesses observed a male assault a female.
The female attempted to hide from police and lied to officers about her identity after she was located hiding in the residence.
The male and female were both on conditions not to associate with each other.
Investigation also revealed that the female had also assaulted and threatened to kill the male.
An 18-year-old Chatham-Kent female faces charges of:
- Failure to Comply With Undertaking
- Obstruct Police Officer
- Facilitate Breach of Undertaking
- Assault
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
A 26-year-old Chatham male faces charges of:
- Failure to Comply With Undertaking
- Facilitate Breach of Undertaking
- Assault
Both were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for bail.
Assault (IPV) – CK26040698
Date: June 5, 2026, 2155hrs Location: Wheatley
On June 5, 2026 at approximately 2155hrs, police were contacted regarding an assault on a female. The female sustained minor physical injuries after being pushed into a fence.
Prior to police arrival, the male left in a vehicle.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service notified the Ontario Provincial Police who located the male in their jurisdiction.
Essex OPP arrested the male for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Assault Peace Officer, before turning him over to Chatham-Kent Police.
A 45-year-old Wheatley man faces an additional charge of Assault.
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for bail.
