On June 26, 2026, at approximately 08:44 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a weapons-related incident on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
The investigation revealed that a 54-year-old female victim from Chatham was travelling eastbound on Grand Avenue West in Chatham when a 31-year-old male accused from Chatham approached her vehicle. The male produced a pocketknife and uttered threats toward the victim before stabbing the driver’s side door of her vehicle. The accused then left the area.
Officers quickly responded and located the suspect, matching the description, on Ursuline Avenue at approximately 08:48 hrs, where he was arrested.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats
- Mischief under $5000
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a future court date of September 21, 2026.

Impaired – CK26046753
Date: June 27, 2026, 00:24 hrs
On June 27, 2026, at approximately 00:24 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle being driven aggressively through a private parking lot in the area of McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.
The vehicle came to a stop a short distance later in the driveway of a residence and officers initiated an investigation.
While speaking with the driver, officers observed several signs of impairment. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made and the driver provided a breath sample that resulted in a Fail reading.
The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for further testing.
The individual provided two breath samples to a qualified breath technician, both registering over the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old male from Chatham was charged with:
• Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
In addition, the driver’s licence was administratively suspended and the vehicle was impounded in accordance with provincial legislation.
He was released with a scheduled future court date of August 5, 2026.

On June 28, 2026, at approximately 10:33 hrs., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a male inside the fenced compound of a business located on Colborne Street in Chatham.
Officers arrived on scene at approximately 10:39 hrs. and entered the secure compound, where they located a 47-year-old male from Chatham-Kent. The individual was found in possession of a backpack containing electrical wire that had been taken from the property.
The suspect was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.
As a result of the investigation, the individual was charged with:
- Break and Enter to Commit Theft Under $5,000
- Disguise with Intent
- Fail to Comply with Probation
The accused was released with conditions and a future court date of September 22, 2026.
