The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
Arrest/Theft – CK25044943
Date: July 29, 2025, Time: 12:03 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On July 29, 2025, at approximately 12:03 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft involving items within a vehicle in Chatham.
An individual had entered an unsecured vehicle parked in a rear lot and removed several items. Officers located the suspect, a 29-year-old male from Tilbury, a short distance away with the stolen property.
The individual was charged with the following:
- Theft Under $5,000 x2
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x3
Subsequently, he was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. He was later released with a schedule court date of August 26, 2025.

Date: July 29, 2025, Time: 12:45hrs Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On July 29, 2025, at approximately 12:45 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a mobility scooter and an SUV.
The SUV was existing a gas station parking lot on Grand Avenue, West Chatham, when it struck a mobility scooter that was travelling on the sidewalk. The impact collided with the operator, a 70-year-old male from Chatham, who fell to the ground. The driver failed to remain at the scene.
The incident was captured on CKPS CCTV Cameras. Officers were able to identify and locate the driver a short time later.
The accused, a 50-year-old male from Chatham was arrested and charged the following:
- Count 1: Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision (HTA)
- Count 2: Fail to Report
- Count 3: Careless Driving
- Count 4: Driving while Under Suspension.
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled future court date of August 20, 2025.
