The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Arrest/Warrants- CK25044753

Date: July 28, 2025, Time: 14:41hrs, Location: Jane Street, Ridgetown

On May 15, 2024, at approximately 14:41 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a local retail store in Chatham.

An individual was observed placing merchandise into a shopping cart and exiting the store through an emergency exit without making any attempt to pay for the item. The identity of the individual was confirmed as a 40-year-old male from Sarnia. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

As a result of the investigation, the individual is facing the following charges:

  • Count 1 – Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

On July 28, 2025, at approximately 14:41hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service attended a residence in Ridgetown in connection to the mentioned endorsed warrant. The individual was located and arrested without incident.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was released with conditions and was turned over to the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police who also held an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Arrest, Bail Violations – CK25044858

Date: July 28, 2025, Time: 02:40 hrs, Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg

On June 28, 2025, at approximately 02:30 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of unauthorized access to a fenced compound, where a suspect was observed breaching a storage container and tampering with a utility box (CK25037537).

Through the review of surveillance footage, a 27-year-old male from Wallaceburg was identified. The accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Mischief Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Break and Enter, and Commit
  • Count 3: Break and Enter with Intent
  • Count 4: Disguise with Intent
  • Count 5: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On July 29, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m. a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer, observed an individual walking on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg while on patrol.

The officer recognized the individual as the 27-year-old male from Wallaceburg who was bound by a curfew condition and a requirement to reside at a specific address between the hours of 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., unless for medical emergencies.

Upon speaking with the individual, police learned that he was evicted from the previously approved residence and had not notified authorities of the change. The individual was also found to be in breach of his curfew conditions.

He was arrested based on reasonable ground and is facing the following charges:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. He was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of August 11, 2025.
