The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
CK25043504- Arrest/Warrant
Date: July 23, 2025, Time: 15:25hrs, Location: Gillard Street, Wallaceburg
On July 9, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a local gas station in Wallaceburg.
Upon investigation, it was revealed through surveillance footage two suspects, a 46-year-old male from Wallaceburg and a 45-year-old male from Walpole Island, were tampering with an air pump at approximately 3:30 am. One individual acted as a lookout while the other was seen removing the air pump. Both individuals were later seen leaving the area on bicycles.
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. a red minivan entered the area, and the two individuals were observed placing the stolen air pump into the rear of the vehicle. The suspects re-entered the van and left the scene.
A warrant was issued for both individuals’ arrests.
On July 23, 2025, at approximately 3:25 p.m. the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a person stop during routine patrol. As a result, the 46-year-old male from Wallaceburg was located and arrested for an outstanding endorsed warrant.
He is currently facing the following charges:
- Count #1: Theft Under $5,000
- Count #2: Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. He was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date of August 20, 2025.
An outstanding warrant is still active for the 45-year-old male from Walpole at this time.
R.I.D.E. Program
Originating in Etobicoke in 1977, the R.I.D.E. program first started as a local initiative to reduce impaired driving in the west end of Metropolitan Toronto. The event’s success led to Canada-wide adoption of R.I.D.E., now known as Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere. R.I.D.E. programs operate year-round.
