The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
Arrest/Warrants – CK25042962
Date: July 21, 2025, Time: 09:16 hrs., Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On May 9, 2025, at approximately 9:16 hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a 32-year-old male from Chatham who attended to the police service headquarters in an attempt to retrieve ownership of documents for a recently purchased used vehicle. The interaction led to the discovery of inconsistencies regarding the vehicle’s registration and licence plate.
Further investigation revealed that the dealership plate on the vehicle had been reported missing and was registered to another individual. The accused initially provided false identification, and it was determined that the plate had been used without authorization.
As a result, the individual was arrested and charged with the following:
- Count 1: Obstruct Peace Officer
- Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was released with a scheduled court date of June 16, 2025, and a fingerprinting date of June 13, 2025, of which he failed to appear. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 22, 2025, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers executed a first instance warrant arrest to the mentioned individual for failing to comply with a court appearance notice. He is currently being held for bail.
Arrest/Other Federal Statutes – CK25043012
Date: July 21, 2025, Time: 12:34hrs, Location: Mill Street, Tilbury
On July 21, 2025, at approximately 12:34hrs. the Chatham-Kent Police Service officers received an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) alert indicating that a suspended driver was in the area of Tilbury.
Police located the vehicle and confirmed that the driver, a 29-year-old male from Tilbury was driving with a suspended licence. The individual was arrested and charged with the following:
- Count 1: Drive While Disqualified
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. He was released with a scheduled future court date of August 9, 2025.
The vehicle was impounded for a period of forty-five days.
