The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

CK25042218 – Arrest/Impaired

Date: July 17, 2025, Time: 16:47 hrs, Location: Fraser Street, Wallaceburg

On July 17, 2025, at approximately 16:47hrs the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a possible impaired driver.

It was reported that the vehicle was driving erratically in the roadway and had pulled over into a marina.

The vehicle was located, and the driver who was the sole occupant in the vehicle, was identified as a 66-year-old male from Wallaceburg. Officers observed the driver as he displayed signs of impairment.

He was subsequently transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for further testing, where he provided a breath sample. The results of the breath test registered as 150 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood. The driver was charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80

The individual was later released with a scheduled court date of July 30, 2025.

CK25042289- Arrest/IPV Assault

Date: July 17, 2025, Time: 00:28 hrs Location: Sheldon Ave., Chatham

On July 18, 2025, at approximately 00:28hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an intimate partner violence incident. It was reported that a female had been assaulted by her partner and had sustained a facial injury.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the accused a 40-year-old male from Chatham consumed a significant amount of alcohol and became aggressive towards a 35-year-old female from Chatham. A verbal dispute escalated, resulting in a physical assaulted of the 35-year-old female that required medical attention.

The accused was located by Chatham-Kent Police Service and was arrested. He was charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Assault

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and was later released with a scheduled court date of August 25, 2025.
