The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

IPV – CK25041450

Date: July 15, 2025, Time: 14:48 hrs, Location: Chatham

On July 16, 2025, at approximately 14:48 hr, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an Intimate Partner Violence incident in Chatham.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a suspect, a 37-year-old male from Chatham was involved in an on-and-off dating relationship with the victim, a 39-year-old female.

The suspect attended the victim’s residence uninvited, and a verbal altercation occurred. The individual left the scene shortly.

Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the victim’s vehicle along with a series of threatening text messages directed at the victim.

Following a thorough investigation, officers located the suspect and arrested him. He was charged with the following:

  • Count 1: Uttering Threats
  • Count 2: Mischief

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.

Assault – CK25041428/CK25041438

Date: July 15, 2025, Time: 13:11 hr, Location: Chatham

On July 15, 2025, at approximately 13:11 hr, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an altercation involving two individuals at a residence in Chatham.

The altercation occurred between a 34-year-old female from Chatham and a 55-year-old accused also from Chatham. During the incident, the 55-year-old female extinguished a cigarette on to the 34-year-old female’s face. In response, the second party used bear spray on the other individual.

As a result of the investigation, both individuals were arrested and charged.

The 34-year-old female is facing the following charges:

• Count #1: Assault with a Weapon

• Count #2: Administering a Noxious Substance

The 55-year-old female is facing the following charge:

• Count 1: Assault with Weapon

Both individuals were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where they were both released with conditions and a scheduled court date for August 21, 2025.
