The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Mischief – CK26000869
Date: January 5, 2026, Time: 08:42 hrs, Location: Princess St. North, Chatham
On January 5, 2026, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Princess Street North, Chatham. It was reported that a female had struck a vehicle with a metal shovel.
Upon arrival, investigations revealed that a vehicle had sustained damaged after being struck with a shovel. Officers also observed the suspect, a 40-year-old female from Chatham, in possession of the shovel. Following a brief foot pursuit, the individual was arrested and charged with the following offence:
- Count 1: Mischief under $5000
She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was later released with a future court date of February 5, 2026.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26000879
Date: January 5, 2026, Time: 09:30 hrs, Location: 24 Third St. Chatham
On December 29, 2025, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a residence in Chatham after receiving information that an individual bound by a release order was present at a location she was prohibited from attending (CK25078113).
The investigation revealed that the accused, a 44-year-old female from Chatham, attended the location earlier that day which was in direct violation of her release order. The release order included conditions prohibiting her from attending within 100 metres of places associated with a 41-year-old male victim from Chatham. The accused left the premises before officers’ arrival. Police formed reasonable and probable grounds to charge the accused with the following:
- Count 1: Fail to Comply with Release Order
A warrant was issued for her arrest.
On January 5, 2026, at approximately 09:30 hrs. the accused surrendered herself at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. She was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. The individual was transported to the South West Detention Centre (SWDC), where she will remain in custody until her next scheduled video court appearance on January 7, 2026.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26000899
Date: January 5, 2026, Time: 11:06 hrs Location: Queen Street and Patteson Avenue, Chatham
On January 5, 2026, at approximately 11:06 hrs, Chatham-Kent Polie Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queen Street and Patteson Avenue.
During the investigation, officers determined that the driver, a 41-year-old male from Sarnia, possessed an outstanding warrant with the Winsor Police Service for the following offences:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Theft Over $5,000
- Mischief Over$5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Uttering a Forged Document
- Failing to Comply with a Probation Order
The accused was arrested on the outstanding charges and subsequently transferred into the custody of the Windsor Police Service.
Arrest, LLCA – CK26001067
Date: January 5, 2026, Time: 00:26 hrs. Location: Victoria, Chatham
On January 5, 2026, at approximately 00:26 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious male on Victoria Avenue in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers located a 55-year-old male from Chatham, walking along the street while screaming. Officers determined that the male was intoxicated and arrested him for public intoxication.
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was held in custody until sober. He was later released from custody and issued a Provincial Offence Notice (PON).
